US soldier charged with killing Iraqi has hearing

A pretrial hearing is underway for an American soldier charged with fatally shooting an Iraqi detainee earlier this year and lying about it. The hearing for 1st Lt. Michael C. Behenna is being held at Camp Speicher, a large US base near Tikrit, north of Baghdad. It is meant to determine whether there is enough evidence for a court-martial. The US military confirmed that the hearing started Sunday. A hearing for a second US soldier charged in the same case, Staff Sgt. Hal M. Warner, took place last week.
