Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday that negotiations between his Fatah party and Hamas on establishing a national unity government had been suspended until his return from the United States.
Abbas is scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Monday in New York.
Abbas said the talks were frozen because Hamas had reneged on recognizing past agreements with Israel.
