The Jerusalem District Court charged Ze'ev Frank with sexual harassment on Sunday, after he was arrested on Thursday for calling a pedestrian a "whore" and spitting on her. He is also being charged with assaulting the officers who arrested him while physically resisting arrest.

According to the indictment, the woman was walking in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Mea She'arim when Frank, a haredi (ultra-Orthodox) resident of the city, harassed her.

When three police officers who were already in the area proceeded to arrest Frank, a group of haredim attacked the officers, throwing rocks and iron poles at their vehicle.

The incident comes after a similar indictment was filed two weeks ago against Sholomo Fuchs, a haredi resident of Jerusalem, for sexual harassment and unruly misconduct in a public place after he allegedly shouted sexual slurs at a female soldier.

Frank was also indicted on two other counts, one for improper behavior in a public place and another for insulting a public servant. In the first, Frank entered a store in Mea Sh'arim last year and began yelling at a woman and a young girl to leave. The store owner physically removed Frank from the premises, only to have him return with a group of men who then began calling to the store's customers to stop shopping in a place with immodestly dressed people.

The final charge refers to an incident a number of months ago during which Frank called a police officer a "Nazi," telling him to "Get out of here. You have no business here."

State prosecutors are requesting that the alleged perpetrator's remand be extended until the end of all legal proceedings against him.
