The current travails of Police Cmdr. Uri Bar-Lev are a punishment from God for his role in the Gaza Strip withdrawal, National Union MK Ya'acov Katz said over the weekend.
Bar-Lev, who commanded the police's southern district during the disengagement, is under investigation on suspicion of sexually harassing Orly Innes, an adviser to the police.
Katz said it was no coincidence Bar-Lev's misfortune followed that of
many others involved in the disengagement, including former prime
minister Ariel Sharon, who is in a coma following two strokes, his son
Omri, who served jail time, former IDF chief of General Staff Dan
Halutz, who was forced to quit his post following the Second Lebanon
War, and former prime minister Ehud Olmert and former president Moshe
Katsav, who are both currently on trial.
