The Central District Attorney filed a indictment on Thursday in the Central District Court in Petah Tikva, charging a 27-year-old Lod man with the murder of his nine-months pregnant wife.According to the indictment, Ahmad Abu Zaid shot his wife Nermin Masoud twice in the head in 2010.Zaid had been obsessively jealous of Masoud, and was aggressive and violent towards her, forcing her to stay confined at home on many occasions, the indictment said.In May 2010, Zaid was sentenced to a prison term, and was ordered to present himself to the court on June 27, 2010. A request to remand Zaid for the duration of the legal proceedings filed alongside the indictment said his prison term had been for narcotics offenses.The indictment alleges that Zaid worried that he would not be able to monitor and control Masoud while he was behind bars and that as a result she would be unfaithful to him, so he decided to murder her.On the night of June 3, 2010, Zaid armed himself with a gun and shot Masoud twice in the head while the couple was visiting his family in Lod, the indictment said.Afterwards, the indictment alleges, Zaid wrapped Masoud in a blanket, shackled her with plastic handcuffs and buried her in a Muslim cemetery in Lod. Masoud’s body was found in October 2011.
