The suspect told police during questioning that he acted in self-defense. The suspect’s brother, also wanted in connection with the stabbing, made contact with Army Radio’s crime reporter on Thursday morning and turned himself in.

Emergency vehicles were called to a street in Netanya earlier after receiving reports of a seriously injured stab victim.

The man suffered multiple stab wounds, paramedics said. Doctors at the city’s Laniado Medical Center declared him dead on arrival.

Police suspect that the attacker is a neighbor who lived in a building nearby. An argument had preceded the stabbing, police added.

Earlier, in Ashdod, a 16-yearold boy was seriously injured after being assaulted by another youth at the Simon shopping mall.

The youth was taken to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon in serious condition.

Ashdod police officers arrested a suspect on suspicion of assault.

Also in Ashdod on Wednesday evening, a 35-year-old resident of the city was shot and seriously injured by a gunman riding on a motorcycle or moped, police said. The man has been hospitalized at the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot.

Some media reports speculated that the shooting was related to a heavy debt, adding that the shooting victim’s father had been shot at in the past.

Meanwhile, in Tel Aviv, a female security guard was arrested on Wednesday evening after opening fire at an apartment from which two youths, aged 20, had thrown eggs and water balloons.

The youths, who were detained by police for questioning, said they threw the items as a prank, and had not imagined that the guard would respond by firing shots. No one was injured.
