According to judges at the Sonoma-Marin fair in Petaluma, California, Quasi Modo, a 10-year-old Pit Bull/Dutch Shepherd mix with a deformed spine is the ugliest dog on the planet.

Quasi Modo beat out 19 other finalists at the 2015 World's Ugliest Dog competition. Last year he was a runner-up in the competition.

According to event organizers, Quasi Modo hails from Loxahatchee, Florida and was rescued from an animal shelter.

Despite having multiple spine defects that resulted in a backbone too short for his body, Quasi Modo loves to jump and play and because of his appearance, he is a "great ambassador for teaching people about acceptance and tolerance."

Some of the other dogs in the show include a number of Chihuahua's including 15-year-old 'Sweepee Rambo' and 'Rue'.

Many of the dogs were shelter dogs, competition organizers said, and some of them were abused animals until they found a loving home.

Winner of the annual competition takes home a US1,500 dollar prize and usually gets asked to make appearances on local and national TV shows.

Ugly dogs and their owners have been heading to Petaluma for over 50 years since the first competition was held.
