Former Hapoel Tel Aviv captain Yossi Abuksis flew to Brazil on Wednesday to begin his new job as a scout for the club, accompanied by Hapoel coach Guy Luzon. It was announced a day earlier that Abuksis was finished playing soccer. The midfielder had been due to make the announcement himself at a press conference at Hapoel Tel Aviv's Wolfson training ground on Tuesday evening. Faced with dozens of fans chanting his name as he arrived at the venue, he became overcome with emotion and burst into tears. He was unable to address the journalists. Abuksis, who has played 20 seasons of top-flight soccer, was considering playing one more season at Hapoel. But he was informed that was not likely to be included in the team's plans.
