Beijing Paralympics: Nawi wins Israel's fourth medal

Eli Nawi took Israel's medal tally in the Beijing Paralympics to four on Thursday, winning a bronze in the singles sculls rowing competition. The 40-year-old finished third in the 1,000 meters race in a time of 5:39.11 minutes. Shraga Weinberg and Boaz Kramer also secured Israel's fifth medal of the Games on Thursday, advancing to the final of the wheelchair tennis doubles tournament. The Israeli duo defeated Peter Norfolk and Jamie Burdekin of Great Britain 6-4, 6-4 and will face Americans David Wagner and Nick Taylor in the final. Israel's wheelchair basketball team lost its second straight game of the tournament on Thursday, falling 82-67 to Great Britain. Nevertheless, the side progressed to the quarterfinals where it will face Canada. There was also some sad news from Beijing on Thursday after Nati Groberg was injured in a road accident with a police car and was taken to hospital with injuries to his ribs and shoulders. The 38-year-old was scheduled to take part in the hand cycling individual time trail competition on Friday.
