The soccer federation's legal department punished Betar Jerusalem FC on Thursday, ruling that the football club will play two home matches in front of an empty stadium. The team also received a suspended sentence of two games without its fans. The club was punished because of unruly behavior by its fans during a recent match with Macabbi Haifa, and for disgracing a moment of silence for slain prime minister Yitzhak Rabin. The two-game punishment will go into effect following Betar's next match on Saturday against Ironi Kiryat Shmona.
