Betar Jerusalem's search for a new striker came to an end Tuesday night with the loan signing of 25-year-old Spaniard David Aganzo.
The forward left Spanish side Racing Santander where he made 17 appearances and scored three goals this season. He has joined Betar until the end of the season for a fee of 100,000 euros, with the option of signing for the yellow-and-black for a further three years.
Aganzo began his career at Real Madrid six years ago, but only made five appearances for the legendary club.
After leaving Real, Aganzo played on loan at Espanyol, Extremadura, Real Valladolid and Levante.
He arrived at Santander in the summer of 2004 and ended the season with seven goals in 26 appearances.
Aganzo will arrive in Israel on Wednesday morning and will join Betar's other new signing French midfielder Fabrice Fernandes.
The 27-year-old left English Premiership side Bolton a couple weeks ago and, after talking to Betar coach Luis Fernandez, decided to join the yellowand-black.
Fernandes has also played for Southampton, Fulham, Glasgow Rangers and French sides Marseille and Rennes.
The Frenchman began training with Betar on Tuesday morning and is expected to make his debut on Sunday in the game against Ashdod SC at Teddy stadium.
Betar will be hoping for a good result in the Premier League fixture after suffering a 1-0 home loss in the Toto Cup against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Tuesday night.
