Cricket: A pair of thrilling last-ball finishes

Excellent fielding by 15-year-old Bergman and three wickets for 13-year-old Barnett ensured Modi’in Easy- Israel team didn't get too many runs.

For the second week in succession, the Israel night action cricket league witnessed two last-ball finishes. The first game saw Modi’in EasyIsrael move to the top of the Plate league with a hard fought win over the Kat Israemploy Warriors while Pearl Wanderers Cricket Club edged Pommeranz Juice Good Old Boys in the late contest.
Modi’in EasyIsrael batted first and scored a competitive total of 76. Some excellent fielding by 15-year-old Daniel Bergman and three wickets for 13-year-old Yonah Barnett on debut ensured that the Modi’in Easy- Israel team did not get too many runs on the board.
Kat Israemploy batted well, but a determined Modi’in EasyIsrael team ensured that they left with the points in the bag with a six-run victory.
Before the Pearl Wanderers Cricket Club-Pommeranz Juice Good Old Boys match, the PJGOB were top of the table, but at the end of the match, they had slipped to fourth. A dramatic encounter ensued, with both teams playing some excellent cricket and prove a point to the rest of the teams in the league that they will be the teams to beat.
The PJGOB’s batted first and posted 70 runs on the board, which was always going to be a few runs short against a strong batting line up. Some excellent bowling, backed up by some good fielding ensured that the game went down to the final over, and once again the final ball to decide the winner It was Pearl Wanderers Cricket Club captain Anthony Harris who held his nerve in the final over to gain maximum points for his team.
In this weekends matches, Modi’in EasyIsrael hopes to continue their winning ways against Kat Israemploy, who are desperate for a win.
CS 8 Ra’anana wants to put their defeat to Telalivit behind them by beating inHasharon as both team sit side by side on the league table. In the other game of the night, second-place Pommeranz Juice Good Old Boys take on Gold Insurance Bet Shemesh Lightning.
