Dudi Sela defeated Ivan Miranda 6-2, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 on Friday to put Israel level at 1-1 against Peru in the Davis Cup World Group playoff. Peru's Luis Horna had defeated Harel Levy 7-5, 5-7, 7-6(3), 6-3 in the opening match before Sela pleased the crowd at the Ramat Hasharon tennis center by easily taking the first two sets. But the 209th-ranked Miranda broke twice to win the third and had the momentum in the fourth after breaking to go up 2-1. But the Israeli broke back twice before serving out the match. In the earlier game, the first set went with serve until the 11th game, when Horna broke Levy to go up 6-5. Levy then saved a set point at 4-5 in the second before rebounding to break back and win the set 7-5. Horna easily won the third-set tiebreaker despite needing treatment on his leg, and stayed in control through the fourth. "I think the difference was only a few points," Horna said. "I think we will have to be patient. It is going to be a very tight series."
