A festive event in honor of British Jewry and in recognition of their efforts in Ashkelon from the 1970's onwards, will take place on April 10th, at the Marjorie Sherman Israel Tennis Center - Ashkelon.
The partnership between Great Britain and Ashkelon began in the 1970's with a variety of community leadership projects in the city's neighborhoods. The scope of investment in Ashkelon was well over £50 million and many facilities such as hospitals, schools and community centers were built thanks to the efforts of British Jews.
The Marjorie Sherman Israel Tennis Center - Ashkelon was built in 1981 with the generous contribution made by the Sherman Family from Great Britain and supported throughout the years by many British Jews. Today, the center serves over 2,000 children and adults.
