Flag Football: Big Blue to face Stevie's Boyz

Big Blue defeated Armitron 31-7 and Stevie's Boyz made a last-minute comeback to beat Tov Pizza 35-34 in the Moshiko AFI Holyland Bowl semifinals last weekend at Kraft Family Stadium. Big Blue and Stevie's Boyz will battle for the men's contact league championship in the 2008 Holyland Bowl, scheduled for 9 p.m. on Saturday at Kraft Family. On Saturday after Big Blue recorded a comfortable victory over Armitron, the hundreds of fans at Kraft Family Stadium enjoyed the thriller between Stevie's Boyz and Tov Pizza. With the clock ticking away, Stevie's Boyz were unable to produce anything on offense and punted with a mere 30 seconds to go. Aryeh Rudman, Tov Pizza's star, caught the punt, and with the help of excellent blocks, ran it all the way back to stun Stevie's Boyz and take a 34-27 lead with only 17 ticks left. On the following play, Mizrahi scrambled around in the pocket, buying just enough time to find his favorite receiver, Manny Haber, who stayed barely in bounds in the corner of the end zone to bring his team to within one point (34-33). With no time remaining and facing the choice to attempt either one point for the tie or two points for the win, the Stevie's Boyz QB and captain made the bold decision to go for two, and then found Haber again, which was the cue for the team's fans to storm the field to celebrate clinching the spot in the Holyland Bowl. Young and Restless hang on to reach co-ed league final The Young and Restless made a crucial defensive stand deep in its own territory late in the second half and went on to beat a determined Shuman PR squad 31-20 in their Tuesday Night Football League semifinal at a snow-covered Kraft Family Stadium on February 19. Shuman PR, the No. 4 seed entering the playoffs, took advantage of a handful of interceptions to keep the game close against the No. 1 seed, found itself down by five points (25-20) with just a couple of minutes left in the second half, and had second down and goal from the seven-yard line. However, The Young and Restless stopped upset-minded Shuman PR on three straight plays and took the ball over on downs. The Young and Restless will face Kfar Zippori, which defeated Jerusalem Massage 20-7 in the other TNFL semifinal, in the championship game at 9 p.m. on February 26.
