Flag Football: Stevie's Boyz dismantle MadScan in men's league

Stevie's Boyz, who won their first 13 games of the Moshiko AFI season but lost their final first-round game, appear to have come back even stronger for the second round. They defeated MadScan 35-9 on Saturday night in their first game of the round-robin group stage. The top two teams in each of the eight four-team groups qualify for the highest playoff bracket, which leads to the Holyland Bowl, and Stevie's Boyz (one win, no losses in their group) look like the favorites to finish first in the group, while MadScan (one win, one loss), Shemtov Pizza (one tie) and Pizzeria Efrat (one loss, one tie) are fighting for the other three spots. Also last weekend, Tov Pizza (two wins, no losses) routed Croton Watches 65-8 and Derech Etz Chaim defeated Lev Hatorah 26-6. Tov Pizza will clinch first place in this group if it beats Lev Hatorah in Week 17 (January 25-26), the final weekend of the regular season. Armitron beat Mishaan Plumbers 38-15 to improve to two wins and no losses in the second round. First place in the group is at stake on Friday morning, January 18, when Armitron faces Bonkers Bagels (also two wins, no losses). A Week 17 matchup between Mishaan Plumbers (no wins, two losses) and Achdut (no wins, two losses) will determine third and fourth place. Second-half swoon sinks The Young and Restless in co-ed league Jerusalem Massage handed The Young and Restless its first defeat of the Tuesday Night Football League season last week. The Young and Restless were ahead 26-0 early in the second half, but Jerusalem Massage scored 32 unanswered points to record the co-ed league victory at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem on January 8. Also last week, HUC wrapped up its regular season with a 25-12 victory over Shuman PR and clinched fourth place in the standings.
