Freed Oil digs well, fin

Freed Oil dug down deep for a 53-45 comeback win over the Batlans in the Red and Dr. Murray's Israel Basketball League this week, with both starters and reserves showing up big time in the morale-boosting victory. Freed's Ashie Schrier (18 points) and the Batlan's Adi Isaacs staged a scorching three-point shootout, but the oilmen pulled away on clever assists by Yoni Weitz, feeding Dani Weinberger and Ezra Buchbinder. Elsewhere, Tzvi Greenfield scored 20 points, and Yisrael Geizhals dominated the boards, as Jerry's Kids remained atop the stadings with a 52-40 triumph over Bloch. The Trumanaires edged Butterfingers 56-55 on a dramatic buzzer-beating three. With two seconds left on the clock, Butterfingers led by two, and were at the foul line for one shot. Foregoing a 3-point lead, Butterfingers attempted a clock-killing intentional miss. However, the shot was called a violation, giving Trumanaires time for a thrilling victorious finish. The Bar Ilan Blazers made it a worthwhile trip from Tel Aviv, as point guard Daniel Stern's outside shooting, forward Gal Avaraham's 16 points, and Yaron Charns' inside-out mix for 12 points led the Blazers to victory a 37-19 win over Lev Hatorah. Siegel handed Lev Dawgs / Buffalo Steak House its first loss of the season in a 53-51 nailbiter. The Dawgs looked certain to remain undefeated, building an 18-point lead, but a never-say-die Siegel effort put the first dent in the defending champs' shiny new trophy.
