Israel struck gold when Aviv Alfital and Ben Fishler won the boys' doubles event at the 20th European Bowling Youth Championships in Thessaloniki, Greece, on Monday. The Israelis captured the first gold medal in the boys' division after amassing a 2,608 pinfall total. Alfital and Fishler beat out the Finnish pair of Perttu Jussila and Tony Ranta, who won the silver medal and bronze winners Cian Cloake and Keith O'Reilly of Ireland. Israel was represented in the championships by six boys and four girls.
