The Dawgs won their first game of the year on the field last week, knocking off Crazy Richard 15-13. In other games the Cerveceros defeated the Dawgs 9-4, Penticon clinched first place in the A Pool by downing Ziontours 10-4, and the Cerveceros 22-7. Dawgs 15, Crazy Richard 13 The Dawgs earned their second victory of the season, both versus Crazy Richard, this time by actually playing the game, as the previous one was a forfeit. The Dawgs put up six runs before recording their first out on Wednesday and never looked back. Natan Mandel had four hits, including a triple for the Dawgs and Avi Dzik was effective in his pitching debut, yielding only two walks and no extra base hits. Cerveceros 9, Dawgs 4 Cerveceros pitcher Yehezkel Ganz settled down after allowing three in the first inning and turned in a dominant performance on the mound on Sunday. Penticon 10, Ziontours 4 Penticon scored seven runs in the first inning and Ami Baran pitched masterfully to hold the Ziontours' bats at bay and retake first place on Sunday. David Aron led off the game with a triple and David Fleightman's three-run triple later in the frame was all Penticon would need. Galil Twisters 10, Tigers 5 On Monday, budding star Kobi Daya shut down the Tigers offense, allowing only one earned run on seven hits while walking none and fanning four. The teams were tied at five after three innings when the Twisters rearranged their fielders, switching around six players. Tigers fourth-string pitcher, 60-year-old Mike Williams, pitched well, striking out three and walking four. Amos Pollack and Gilad Lazar each had a pair of hits for the Tigers. Dimona 17, Shimshon Hi-Tech 0 Yarone Ben Israel geared up for the playoffs with a dominant one hit, one walk performance to lead Dimona to an easy win. Penticon 22, Cerveceros 7 In a showdown of the two first place teams, Penticon clearly had the upper hand over its B Pool counterparts on Tuesday. Ami Baran pitched well, striking out three and Penticon benefited from two controversial defensive obstruction calls that turned outs at home into runs. Dimona 8, Tigers 2 Yarone Ben Israel hurled his second straight strong outing, allowing only three hits, one a home run by Gilad Lazar. Galil Twisters 14, Ziontours 6 The Twisters banged out 20 hits and scored in each inning to back the solid pitching of Kobi Daya on Friday. Birthday boy Alex Crane and Jeffrey Zitomer each went 5-5 and every Twister starter had an RBI. Beit Shemesh Fireballs 12, Dimona Lady Judeans 10 On Sunday, Minna Wolf led her team to victory with a three-run double, a go-ahead two-run single and a game saving catch of a line drive in extra innings.
