Big Blue took complete control in the second half against the Cobras on its way to recording a 27-13 victory on Saturday night, at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem, in the first week of the Moshiko AFI league's second round. The top 32 teams in the 59-team men's contact flag football league have been split into eight groups for a three-game round-robin stage, after which the teams will be seeded into playoff brackets. Also last weekend, Oma's dominated a listless Karelitz 40-13 on Friday to gain the early edge in their group. In the same group, Travaglini defeated Magen Av 14-13 on Saturday night. In the middle tier, Canaan Studio shocked Klein Management 8-6 on Saturday night in a rematch of a first-round game. Seminarycentral.com recorded its first win of the season, a 20-14 victory over Purple Mushroom in a lower-tier group game on Friday morning. Trumanettes pick up first victory in women's league It was a happy evening for the young women who make up the Trumanettes. In week nine of the Real Housing Women's AFI, the Trumanettes beat the Lightning 6-0 on December 26 at Kraft Family Stadium to record their first win of the season. Trumanettes quarterback Meira Scholar connected with Esther Feldhamer to score the only touchdown of the game. The Turumanettes played tight defense throughout, including interceptions by Feldhamer and Zehava Katz. Also last week, the Winter Blizzards beat Paige's Lakers 14-0. Touchdowns were scored by Penina Kroll and Jordana Lowstien. Kroll also scored both extra points. On defense, interceptions were made by Kroll (2), Chanie Davis (2) and Michelle Sacks (1). Big Blue upset Nativ 46-6 as Gefen Stein scored two touchdowns, as did Rachel "Shmid" Shmidman and QB Shana Sprung; one of Sprung's came on an interception return. Gilat Kupietsky and Sarit Bailey scored one TD apiece. Shmidman scored three of the extra points, and Stein scored one. Starting the game with only four players, Vringo still managed a 24-6 victory over the Halachic Organ Donor Society. Vringo QB Yael Freedman scored one touchdown, and Adena "Brick" Brickman scored an impressive three, including one on an interception return. Other interceptions were made by Freedman and Keren Klass. Kfar Zippori edges Pardes in co-ed league Kfar Zippori welcomed in 2008 by defeating Pardes 20-18 in the Tuesday Night Football League on January 1 at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem. Also this week, the Young and Restless improved their record to eight wins and no losses by beating HUC 37-6. Last week, the Young and Restless came back to defeat Kfar Zippori 39-31 in American Football in Israel's co-ed non-contact league, HUC defeated Pardes 41-6 and Jerusalem Massage shut out Shuman PR in the second half on its way to a 38-26 win.
