Israel continued to impress on Thursday, defeating France 84-67 in Bormio, Italy, in its second warm-up game ahead of the start of its EuroBasket 2009 qualifying campaign in September. The national team beat Italy in a friendly on Sunday and the game against France was its first in a three-day tournament, which also includes Italy and Poland. Amit Tamir led the team scoring 13 points, with Yaniv Green and Lior Eliyahu adding 12 and 11 points, respectively. Israel, which faces Great Britain at the Nokia Arena in Tel Aviv on September 3 in its first European Championship qualifier, plays Italy on Friday and will end the tournament with a game against Poland on Saturday. A 7-0 run midway through the first period gave Israel an early 15-6 lead over France, which was playing without its superstar Tony Parker and many of its top players. The blue-and-white would remain in front throughout the remainder of the game and ended up cruising to another confidence boosting victory.
