Israeli Judoka Alice Shlesinger won the gold medal at the European Junior Judo Championships on Saturday in impressive fashion. The 19-year-old won all five of her fights in the under-63 kilogram category in Prague with an Ippon. Shlesinger needed just 48 seconds to get the better of Poland's Luiza Czakanak in the first round and a mere 28 seconds to defeat Vaida Jankute. After a hard fought win over Narine Zaimtsyan in the quarterfinals the Israeli booked her place in the final in just 13 seconds, beating Antoinette Hennink. The title fight was also extremely short, with Shelsinger clinching the gold by toppling Valeriane Etienne in 57 seconds. Despite her success, Shelsinger, who won a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships three years ago, has yet to book her place at next year's Olympic Games in Beijing and will need to meet the criteria in senior events over the next few months.
