Alice Shlesinger won a bronze medal at the European Judo Championships on Saturday and, just as importantly, booked her place at this summer's Olympic Games. The 20-year-old Israeli needed to finish among the top three in the 63 kilogram competition to qualify for Beijing and did just that in what was her final chance to qualify for the Olympics. Shlesinger lost to Urska Zolnir in her second round fight on Saturday, but won three fights in the repechage and clinched the bronze medal by defeating Britain's Sarah Clark. Gal Yekutiel also secured his place in China over the weekend, finishing fifth in the men's -60 kilogram competition. After losing in his second fight on Friday, Yekutiel reached the bronze medal fight via the repechage, but lost out to Greece's Alexanidis Lavrentis and had to settle for fifth place.
