Will Bynum was surprisingly released from prison to house arrest on Monday night.
Despite being remanded for another two days in jail on Sunday after his alleged involvement in a hit and run incident, Tel Aviv prosecution decided on Monday to release the player from lock-up to house arrest until Thursday afternoon.
Bynum will be able to attend the team's training sessions, but will not be allowed to leave the country in the next 30 days without special permission from the police.
Tel Aviv Magistrate Court set the bail at NIS 50,000 and also demanded Bynum deposit his passport at a police station.
"I thank the police for allowing Will's release tonight instead of waiting for tomorrow morning," attorney and Maccabi chairman Shimon Mizrahi said. "We asked that he be released tonight because of his physiological state. We guarantee that the club will escort him to the Nokia Arena and back and make sure he doesn't go anywhere else."
Bynum had been in prison since Saturday after he allegedly ran over 22-year-old Dimona resident Bar Natan Burson at least twice outside of the south Tel Aviv club "The G Spot" where the American player was celebrating his 25th birthday with friends.
