Three of Maccabi Tel Aviv's summer signings arrived in Israel on Monday ahead of the team's first training session of the 2007/08 season.
Marcus Fizer, Vonteego Cummings and Terence Morris, who will each play important roles in the team's relentless chase of titles in Israel and Europe in the coming months, were in high spirits at Ben-Gurion Airport.
"It's great to be in Israel and I can't wait for the start of the season," said the 29-year-old Fizer, who was selected fourth by the Chicago Bulls in the 2000 NBA draft. "I'm aware of the pressure to win titles and I hope we make everybody proud."
Cummings, who played for Partizan Belgrade last season, said: "We not only want to reach the Final Four, but we also want to win every game in the Euroleague. I think we have a team that is capable of accomplishing this feat. I will first of all play for Maccabi and only then for myself. I think Maccabi is going to have an excellent season."
Morris, who joined the yellow-and-blue from bitter rivals Hapoel Jerusalem, spoke of the difference in the state of mind between playing for Maccabi and Hapoel. "At Jerusalem we were always chasing, but now I'm at a team which is at the top. It's a little different, but it feels good."
