The two premier active Jewish athletes in America were at Shea Stadium on Thursday, as Mets slugger Shawn Green and undefeated welterweight boxer Dmitriy "Star of David" Salita met for the first time.
"I enjoy live baseball, it's exciting and relaxing," said Salita. "Shawn Green is off to a great start and it was an honor to meet a great athlete and a New York Mets star. Shawn was very cool and welcoming. We spoke about baseball, boxing and New York City. I hope to see him at one of my future fights."
Lou DiBella, Dmitriy's promoter and a Mets season ticket holder, brought the two Jewish sluggers together. "It was a pleasure to be able to introduce Shawn Green and Dmitriy Salita, two of New York's most prominent professional Jewish athletes," he said.
