Peru leads Israel in Davis Cup

Peru took a 1-0 lead in its Davis Cup World Group playoff against Israel on Friday after Luis Horna defeated Harel Levy 7-5, 5-7, 7-6(3), 6-3 in the opening match. The first set went with serve until the 11th game, when Horna broke Levy to go 6-5 up and then went on to win the set on his serve. Levy mounted a comeback in the second set. The Israeli was a point from going two sets down at 4-5 but rebounded to break back and win the set 7-5. The third set went to a tiebreak, which was interrupted with Horna leading 3-2 as he needed treatment on his left leg. When he returned to the court the Peruvian swept Levy aside to take the tiebreak 6-3. Horna then maintained control, winning the final set 6-3.
