It was a day of mixed fortunes for Israel's representatives in the Rhythmic Gymnastics competitions in Beijing on Thursday.
Irina Risenzon and Neta Rivkin are placed in ninth and 11th overall in the Individual All-Around competition, following their displays in the rope and hoop exercises.
On Friday, the two will perform with the clubs and ribbon, and both have a good chance of making Saturday's final by finishing the qualifying round in the top-10.
However, in the group event Katerina Pisetsky, Alona Dvornichenko, Raheli Vigdorchik, Veronika Vitenberg and Maria Savenkov had a day to forget on Thursday, dropping the rope in the final stages of their exercise and are just placed 11th out of 12 teams in the Group All-Around after the first day of qualification.
Only the top eight teams advance to Sunday's final and the Israelis face an uphill battle on Friday if they're to emulate their sixth position finish at last year's World Championships.
