Rugby: Israeli team wins international tourney

Beats two European teams to win games commemorating 75 years of German side St. Pauli.

Israeli rugby team Izrael-Gilboa returned to Israel on Tuesday after trouncing two European teams to win an international tournament commemorating 75 years of German side St. Pauli. "The games were excellent, high quality and competitive. They were difficult, but very enjoyable," club manager Assael Mor said after the tournament held in Hamburg, Germany, where St. Pauli is based. In game one, Izrael-Gilboa shut out St. Pauli 8-0, with Sela Leshem scoring a try and Amir Boitler scoring a three-point penalty kick. Oren Brodhearst was named MVP. After a game between St. Pauli and Piacenza of Italy ended 17-17, Izrael-Gilboa went on to defeat Piacenza 27-22 in the final.
