Shahar Pe’er and Dudi Sela claimed straightforward victories on Monday night in their final warm-up tournaments before the start of the US Open next week.

Pe’er, ranked No. 24 in the world, defeated Anastasiya Yakimova (84) 6-1, 6-3 in an hour and 15 minutes in the first round of the Texas Open in Dallas for which the Israeli received a wild-card after making a late decision to play in the event.

Pe’er faced Johanna Larsson (64) of Sweden in the second round late Tuesday night.

Sela (94), meanwhile, recorded his first ATP Tour win in two months on Monday, beating Filippo Volandri (86) 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and eight minutes in the first round of the Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest University.

Sela faced a tough second-round encounter against American John Isner (28) late Tuesday night.

In New Haven, fourth seed Marion Bartoli began her final warm-up to the US Open in impressive style by blasting Australian qualifier Anastasia Rodionova 6-1, 6-4 in firstround action.

The 26-year-old Frenchwoman is one of four top 10 players taking part in the US Open tune-up, with fifth seed Agnieszka Radwanska cruising into the second round by pounding Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova 6-1, 6-2.

World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki arrives in New Haven searching for some hard court form after suffering opening match losses in her last two tournaments.

The Dane, who received a first-round bye, could not hope for a better place to discover some success ahead of the US Open as she will attempt to become the 10th player in the Open Era to win the same WTA title in four straight years.
