Andy Ram and Michael Llodra advanced to the semifinals of the Lyon Grand Prix on Wednesday without even hitting a ball. Injury forced Sebastien Grosjean and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to withdraw from the quarterfinal encounter, meaning Ram will play in his second semifinal in three weeks without regular partner Yoni Erlich. Erlich is still struggling with injury and is hoping to be fit on time for the season-ending Masters Cup, although he has already ruled himself out of the Masters Series tournament in Paris next week. In singles action in Lyon yesterday, Julien Benneteau upset fifth-seeded Tommy Robredo of Spain 6-2, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals of the Lyon Grand Prix. Robredo faced 13 break points in the match and lost his serve twice in each set to the Frenchman, and he fared little better when returning serve, winning only eight percent of points on his first return. Benneteau next meets second-seeded Richard Gasquet or Steve Darcis in the quarterfinals. Also Wednesday, Dudi Sela (69 in the world) was knocked out in the second round of the Challenger tournament in Seoul, which he won last year, losing 4-6, 2-6 to Adrian Cruciat (167).
