Tournaments abound at Ga’ash golf club

The Mercedes Trophy, played on Friday, saw 150 golfers participate in a nine hole individual stableford tournament sponsored by Mercedes Benz.

In just one week the Ga’ash Golf Club held the Mercedes Trophy, the Monthly Medal and a Ladies day competition.
The Mercedes Trophy, played on Friday, saw 150 golfers participate in a nine hole individual stableford tournament sponsored by Mercedes Benz.
The A division was won by Amiram Zantkern with Gideon Hoch coming in second. Ike Peters took first place in the B division followed by Elke Wienkamp. The C division went to Avraham Levy with Brian Sherman right behind him.
The nearest to the pin prizes sponsored by Greenfield restaurant went to Anthony Haris.
On Monday, over 30 golfers participated in the June Monthly Medal. Anthony Harris was the main attraction, taking the gross cup with 71 strokes. His front nine of +1 (36) included seven pars, one birdie and two bogeys.
Anthony then played the back nine with an even par 35 including seven pars, one birdie and one bogey. Harris who played off a 5 handicap had a net 66.
Since a golfer can only win one prize per tournament first place for the Net in the A division went to Ilan Mendelson followed by Greg Elliot.
The B division was won by Hugo Wainstein with second place going to Jorge Shchurman on a count out.
It was also a day to remember for Wainstein who scored a hole in one on the difficult 14th hole par 3.
The nearest to the pin prizes sponsored by Greenfield restaurant went to Raphy Harroche.
On Tuesday the Ladies Day competition was held in honor of Elke Weinkamp who is returning to Germany with her family after spending 3 years in Israel. Elke will be remembered for her serious attitude towards the game and her dedication to the Ga’ash Golf Club. She participated in most tournaments and charity days and always had a smile on her face.
