"I beseech Israel to reconsider," said Paraguay President Mario Abdo Benitez.
Paraguay considers Israel's decision to close its embassy hasty and disproportionate, and hopes Israeli authorities will reconsider.
The vice president's office said the two "agreed to work towards achieving a [comprehensive] and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."
Paraguay is the third country in eight days to open an embassy in the capital, following the US last Monday and Guatemala on Wednesday.
