While the 70th anniversary year was one in which Israel could look with pride at her achievements, there was also a need to show compassion for the less fortunate citizens of the country.
President Reuven Rivlin met five new ambassadors to Israel on Thursday and spoke with them on such social issues such as antisemitism, racism and fundamentalism.
The president visited the Eurovision Village in Tel Aviv to honor Europe Day in an event with European diplomats and the city's mayor.
She earned the sobriquet of “Lady with the Lamp” because she spent a lot of time in the wards personally caring for the wounded.
A more recent basketball player, Anat Draigor, set a Guinness World Record in 2006 when she scored 136 points in a single game.
Rivlin gave Netanyahu the maximum additional time to form a government, 14 days.
