Have you ever wanted to sit where the State of Israel was declared but didn't want to shell out a few shekels to do so? Well, you're in luck buddy. In honor of Independence Day, Independence Hall is opening its doors free to the public this Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. So come and sit in Meir Dizengoff's house, one of the few remaining buildings from the city's first neighborhood, Ahuzat Bayit, to hear a recording of David Ben-Gurion read the Declaration of Independence. The room is preserved much as it was on that fateful Friday afternoon back in 1948. Additionally, the museum will open the following day, Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., though for the regular admission fee. Independence Hall is located at 16 Rothschild Blvd., Tel Aviv. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday to Thursday with admission from NIS 8 to NIS 17. Tours are available in, take note, Hebrew, English, Spanish and Russian.
