The wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy left a Paris maternity clinic on Sunday, four days after giving birth to a baby daughter.

Carla Bruni gave birth to baby Giulia on Wednesday.

Security was tight around La Muette clinic and journalists waited on the road leading up to it, while people in neighboring buildings looked out of their windows to try and get a glimpse of the first lady and baby.

The child is Bruni's first with Nicolas Sarkozy and the first baby born to a Presidential couple in office.
