Grass fires stoked by hot, dry conditions spread in Oklahoma on Tuesday, threatening some homes and prompting evacuations.

Flames tore through trees and brush in south Oklahoma City, sending a cloud of smoke billowing into the sky.

A local media source reported the fire had not burned any homes, but some residents evacuated as firefighters tried to control the blaze.

The fire is thought to be moving north.
