Beit Lessin premieres 'Alma and Ruth'

Alma and Ruth follows the relationship between Ruth, a young haredi novelist, her family, and Alma, her publisher.

Alma and Ruth by Goren Agmon and directed by Micha Lewensohn opens at Beit Lessin on Sunday, April 27. It follows the relationship between Ruth, a young haredi novelist who's written a tempestuous first novel, her family, and Alma, her publisher who wants to nurture her obvious talent. The trouble starts when the family discovers not only that she's written a novel, but that family secrets are revealed in it. The situation is compounded by Alma's sticky relationship with her own newly religious daughter. This is a play about loyalties, faith and the dreadful rifts in Israeli society.
