Summer can be a difficult time for parents with the kids out of school. That means finding a way to entertain the little ones while protecting them from sunstroke. As such, the Suzanne Dellal Center and the Tel Aviv municipality present The Magical Tale Festival. With 12 children's shows over the course of three days this is a superb non-mall solution. This is the eighteenth consecutive year for The Magical Tale Festival. Inside the theater, audiences of young and old can take in colorful adaptations of fables - old and new. Outside, bedazzling musicians and dancers perform free shows for all ages. The line-up includes music, dance, musical theater, storytelling and puppets. Seven of the indoor performances this year are premieres. Among them is Teatron Goshen's production of Joseph, Man of Dreams. Against the backdrop of light blue skies and sandy deserts, children will get to know the biblical character Joseph as a child, dreaming of the future and going on many magical adventures. Renowned entertainer Orna Porat brings her new restaging of Noah's Ark. Teatron Hakaron has reinterpreted Jonathan Swift's mystifying tale Gulliver's Travels as well as the beloved Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The festival also brings back some of Israel's favorite children's shows this year. Teatron Givatayim will perform their musical rendition of Puss In Boots. Teatron Adam presents two shows, Shmulik the Porcupine and A Journey In Colors, both of which are specifically for audiences between the ages of two and four. For the festival's duration the courtyard at the Suzanne Dellal Center will fill up with free outdoor shows between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., with musical acts including the Tel Aviv Youth Company singing a medley of popular children's songs, Dana Dvoreen (accompanied by a dancer), Tzachi Noy, and Michal Tsapir. If keeping your kids captivated is what you seek then The Magical Tale Festival holds all that you seek. The Magical Tale Festival runs from August 19-21 at the Suzanne Dellal Center.
