MahoLohet (Hot Dance) is the dance event of the summer. This year, the program runs at the Suzanne Dellal Dance Center in Tel Aviv from July 1 - August 30 and showcases 49 local dance groups presenting their current works, including premieres. Elina Pechersky's Crimson and Turquoise opens the festival, ushering in an evening of sinuous oriental dancing by local artists such as Assi Haskel and Firael Hashibun's Salame Company. Other premieres include Rina Schenfeld's tribute to Leonard Cohen, Dancing to the Edge of Love; Anat Shamgar's Chapters (Prakim in Hebrew), which derives from George Perec's novel Species of Spaces and Other Pieces; and flamenco company Compas and guest star Miguel Angel's With the Time. Liat Dror and Nir Ben Gal are coming from the crater country of Mitzpe Ramon with the eco-aware Earth, and Anat Danieli has set her new family-friendly piece to Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The not-to-be-missed category includes Yasmeen Godder's witty and probing Singular Sensation (Ahusheeling), as well as Oyster by Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak. And don't forget the "electrifying" Spaniard, Rafael Amargo and his company.
