It didn't make Time Out Tel Aviv's Top 10 coffee shop list, but this little cafe on Ahad Ha'am Street is most definitely a popular spot in this city.
Set in the Sheinkin area, Ginzburg Caffe is best known for its breakfasts. Although a fan of this morning meal, I tend to frequent this place in the afternoons. Actually, I often conduct interviews here because the noise level is moderate and the patrons are used to seeing famous people snacking at the next table. Despite being near trendy and busy Sheinkin Street, the atmosphere is homey as opposed to pretentious. Yes, there are a lot of celebrated people here, but the coffee shop equally serves as a neighborhood hangout. And the service is very good. There's outdoor seating on the patio on steel and bamboo chairs with wooden circle tables.
Inside there's a choice of dark wooden square tables and wooden chairs or stools at the bar. There's also a coveted black sofa seating area at the entrance. Ginzburg has a friendly atmosphere that becomes more romantic as the sun sets. For those with little ones in tow, this is a good option as it's kid friendly. Ginzburg defines itself as a "coffee shop, bakery, patisserie" and that's because it freshly bakes all its goods. The fare is not all that different from other coffee shops nearby but Ginzburg's trump card is that it has kosher certification. For those visiting Tel Aviv, a trip to Ginzburg will offer a true taste of the city's cafe culture.
