Remember when children weren't glued to their keyboards or joysticks or the TV. Remember we were young and played marbles and board games and Tarzan?
To celebrate Israel's 60 years, the Children's Museum in Holon has organized "When We Were Children," a unique exhibition of Israeli childhood games, toys and other artifacts, all authentic. Kids from four to 120 can wander among the various sections of the exhibition and at each there will be something to do or listen to, from stories to workshops to games and even hula-hooping.
In "The Classroom," for instance, you can see old style notebooks, pencil cases, leather satchels, and lunch bags. The "At Home" section houses all kinds of collections from cards to dolls, as well as toys and records. The other sections are "Childhood Heroes," "The Street Back Then," "Around the World," "Touring Israel" - a section that encourages love of the country through different games, and of course "Holidays Are Us" because young Israel invented a whole new way of celebrating.
The exhibition takes place during Hol Hamoed Pessah from April 21 -25. Tickets are rather steep at NIS 40 per child and NIS 25 per accompanying adult.
