The new Eran Riklis film Lemon Tree is proving to be a popular entry at the Berlin Film Festival currently taking place. According to Variety, the drama, co-written by Riklis and former Palestine journalist Suha Arraf, about a Palestinian widow battling to protect her lemon tree grove from destruction by IDF forces, has racked up a string of sales. Italy (Teodora), Spain (Golem), Benelux (Cineart) and Canada (Seville Pics), Switzerland (Agora) and Greece (Film Trade) all announced distribution deals following the film's well-received Panorama screening on Friday. Ricklis, best known for his 2004 hit Syrian Bride, told an interviewer that he sees Lemon Tree as a 'feel-good movie. Maybe it's not a happy ending. But anyone walking out afterwards will have a smile and sense of learning something. This film will have a wide release wherever it goes."
