Janice Harrington to visit Israel

Harrington has worked with many well-known artists, including B.B. King, Jack Dupree, Frank Sinatra Jr., and Sammy Davis Jr.

Blues, gospel and jazz singer Janice Harrington will be in Israel February 9-15 under the auspices of the US Embassy Tel Aviv. Harrington and her group will give workshops and perform at the Karmiel Conservatory, the Beersheba Municipal Library, the Arab-Jewish Community Center in Jaffa and the Shfaram Music Conservatory, among other locations. Harrington has worked with many well-known artists, including B.B. King, Jack Dupree, Frank Sinatra Jr., Sammy Davis Jr., Buddy Guy and Lionel Hampton. She sang for Bishop Desmond Tutu when he received his Nobel Prize in Oslo. In 2007, Harrington was selected by the US Department of State as a cultural envoy. Cultural envoys are American musicians, dancers and actors who perform, conduct workshops and hold master classes to introduce foreign audiences to American art forms.
