Legendary rock musician John Cale and his band will be appearing in Tel Aviv at the Zappa Club and at the Hangar.

John Cale croons in Tel Aviv Legendary rock musician John Cale and his band will be appearing in Tel Aviv twice next month - January 18th at the Zappa Club, and the next night at the Hangar. The multi-instrumentalist was a founding member, along with Lou Reed, of the Velvet Underground, the late Sixties group that drew the blueprint for every indie rock band from REM to Pavement. Cale, who has released 23 solo albums, including Paris 1919 and Vintage Violence, has also produced some rock classics for others, including Patti Smith's debut Horses and The Stooges. In the Nineties, he reunited with Reed for the highly acclaimed song cycle about Andy Warhol, "Songs for Drella". - David Brinn Missing heavy metal A work by renowned Israeli sculptor Yigal Tumarkin has been stolen by scrap-metal merchants amid an upsurge in the pilfering of metals in the Jewish state, police said yesterday.
