The Breeders, one of more successful American indie rock bands of the 1990s, will be performing in Israel in August. Led by sisters Kelley and Kim Deal, the band recently released a new album, Mountain Battles. Kim Deal, bass player for The Pixies (who have enjoyed their own resurgence in recent years), originally formed The Breeders as a side project. But by 1993's Last Splash, the band's popularity had propelled them to their own level of stardom. While the band has gone through various permutations and sabbaticals due to substance abuse and other personal problems, it has remained a working unit since the '90s. The Breeders will be appearing at Zappa in Tel Aviv on August 21 and 22.
