The 'second' coming of Blonde

Blonde Redhead comes to Israel following the release of their last and most successful album to date, Misery is a Butterfly.

Last summer, following the outbreak of the Second Lebanon War, all the international music acts that had yet to arrive in Israel cancelled their performances. Blonde Redhead is the one band that is returning this summer. The underground American rock band was scheduled to open for the huge Depeche Mode, as well as give a couple concerts of their own, before both groups cancelled last July. Comprised of Italian twin brothers, Simone and Amadeo Pace - who moved from Milan to Montreal as teenagers - and Kazu Makino - who left her native Kyoto, Japan for New York City in the early 90s - the band was formed following a chance meeting between the three in a New York City Italian restaurant. Their first album, DNA, was released shortly thereafter, in 1993. In 2000, the band released Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons, which, despite its critical success, more or less eluded the eye of the mainstream. It did, however, secure the band's place amongst its legions of devoted fans. Blonde Redhead comes to Israel following the release of their last and most successful album to date, Misery is a Butterfly, described as their most lyrical and tender production yet. Blonde Redhead's first show, for which the Israeli band Rockfour is set to open, is scheduled for July 5 at 9 p.m. at Hangar 11 on Tel Aviv's port and a second show the next night at 10 p.m. at Barby Tel Aviv (52 Kibbutz Galuyot St.).
