But of course we're a Jewish state

As this paper reports, the Arab ministers do not agree with Israel being a ''Jewish state''.  No they do not.

Mahmoud Abbas doesn''t agree that Israel should be recognized as a ''Jewish state''.

Some State Department spokeslady supposedly permitted the Palestinian Authority to get away with the commitment to agree that Israel actually is the ''Jewish state''.  It was the President of the United States, the current one actually, who said

American diplomacy is supporting Israelis and Palestinians as they engage in difficult but necessary talks to end the conflict there; to achieve dignity and an independent state for Palestinians, and lasting peace and security for the State of Israel – a Jewish state that knows America will always be at their side.

And he also said

"two states for two people: Israel as a Jewish state and the homeland for the Jewish people..."

And again said

Palestinians must recognize that Israel will be a Jewish state

What is going on in Washington, I really cannot fathiom.

But I do know, that in the press that purports to present the "Palestinian" perspective, they know very well that the state is Jewish.

Why and how?

Because in their political cartoons, those simplistic devices intended for the masses, they carcature Israelis as Jews and not only as Jews but in the portrayal of the worst and classic anti-Semitic characterizations.

Aryeh Stav many years ago published two books full of Arab press anti-Semitic newspaper cartoons.  Here are some recent examples I found:

That was from Al-Manar.

Here is from Al-Hayat:

From Al Quds UK:

I found more here and others here.

Forget about borders, about the demand that first Fatah and Hamas make peace between themselves, about Christian Arabs stopping their virulent anti-Zionism (supported by a State Department official) and a host of other issues.

Israel was to be the reconstituted Jewish historic homeland (The League of Nations Mandate), a Jewish state (the United Nations Partition recommendation).

If our "peace partners" can''t get over that hurdle, we should forget about peace in this generation.

The Palestinian Authority must reeducate its masses before there is even a chance for peace, let alone coexistence.
