3 Alperon family members, associate charged in funeral attack

3 Alperon family members

Three members of the Alperon family and an associate were charged on Tuesday with aggravated assault and making threats at a funeral. The defendants, who appeared at the Beersheba Magistrate's Court, include Nissim and Aryeh Alperon, brothers of late underworld kingpin Yaakov Alperon, and Yaakov's son, Dror. The fourth defendant has been named as Eyal Gido. Southern District prosecutors say Gido's mother accused her nephew of stealing money from her purse in July when he borrowed her car. The bitter family dispute eventually led to the assault by the Alperons, according to the indictment. The four men are charged with arriving at a funeral attended by Gido's aunt armed with spikes, metal poles, and other weapons, and launching an attempted assault on a number of people. The suspects have also been charged with extortion.
