Atzmaut, Labor reach agreement on division of resources

Almost three months after Defense Minister Ehud Barak dropped a party splitting-bombshell on eight members of Labor, the rival Atzmaut and Labor Knesset factions reached an agreement Sunday regarding the division of their once-shared resources.
The two factions officially agreed that half of the party funds to which Barak’s Atzmaut is entitled will be transferred to Labor to help cover the faction’s debts.
The agreement is in line with the usual practice during such party splits, through which the faction defectors are still considered responsible for debts accrued before they left their original party.
This agreement, like any other agreement between the acrimoniously-separated factions, must be approved by the House Committee before going into effect.
